Pointer    Age: Young Puppy

For English Pointers: GPPR will adopt within the Midwestern States where we have volunteers located. Please be sure to ask if your state is included. Cute puppy alert! I am Freya, and I am an English Pointer who is about 3 months old. I was rescued from the southern part of the United States by GPPR with the other puppies and I am adapting to this colder, Northern life! I am energetic, inquisitive, playful, everything you would expect in a pointer puppy! I travel great in the car, and I am working on my kenneling. I am learning about leashes, but I am not sure if I like them yet, but then again, my attention span is not very long because of ... (Read More)my age, but food is always a good way to get my attention! I am being treated by my vet to help get me really healthy for my forever family sometime this summer. In the meantime, watch for cute pictures from my foster mom, because I LOVE the camera and I love to model, and updates as I work on my manners and my personality! Located in MN. (Less)

For German Shorthaired Pointers: GPPR covers the states of Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota For English Pointers: GPPR will adopt within the Midwestern States where we have volunteers located. Please be sure to ask if your state is included. Hi I am Crockett. I am a 3 1/2 month old pointer. I am very playful and love chewing on my bones. I try and chew on other items and get told no. I hear that word a lot. I love playing with my foster brothers and sister, both 2 & 4 legged. I am working on not pottying in the house and going into this box thing. It is scary and I cry for a few minutes then lay down and take a nap. I love sleeping with my ... (Read More)mom and dad or on the dog bed. I hear them say I need to learn some commands and to walk on a leash. If you want to open your heart and home to a cute guy, that's me, I am looking for my forever home. I am still getting some vetting done and will be available for adoption soon. I am located near Des Moines, Iowa. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-25-00463Brooklyn (female)

Pointer    Age: Puppy

For English Pointers: GPPR will adopt within the Midwestern States where we have volunteers located. Please be sure to ask if your state is included. Hi Everyone, I'm Brooklyn. I was a stray down in Alabama, spent a few months in a shelter, and am now getting my second chance with GPPR. I'm a pointer/lab mix and, as you can see, I'm up to my ears in all kinds of cute. And that's probably a good thing because I'm about a year old, possibly a little bit less, and I still haven't figured out the difference between my chew toys and your favorite pair of shoes. I don't know my name yet, I don't have any obedience training, I snore like a ... (Read More)lumberjack, and I'm still iffy on my potty training. But that's ok because I'm on the fast track to learning lots of new things now that I'm with GPPR. And I'm stinkin' cute. I ride in the car nicely and I also like sleeping in my crate. I point at neighborhood birds and I wouldn't mind eating some of the neighbor cats. I would do best in a home where I can be crated when my people are away because I am a (really cute) destroyer of all things. I do well with other dogs and am even learning the art of shared playtime. I'm also very good with children. I haven't had any accidents in the house but I'm still making extra trips outside until my potty training is firmed up. I'm a friendly, loving, and trusting girl. Watch for more updates as I start to show my true colors and as I learn new things. I still need to get one of those spade things at the vet so I'm not cleared for adoption yet but I will be available soon!! Brooklyn is being fostered in the Minneapolis area. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-12-00734Bruno (male)

German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Adult

For German Shorthaired Pointers: GPPR covers the states of Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota Hello! My name is Bruno and I am a handsome boy with great manners. My tail never stops wagging because I am just happy all the time! I also have one of the longest tongues a dog can have. It hangs out of my mouth most of day because, along with my wagging tail, I also smile a lot. I love to be around people and children. I also love to be outside and run with other dogs. I know how to sit (most of the time), but I can be kind of stubborn. If I am busy watching the rabbits or squirrels run around in the neighbor's yard, I don't always 'hear' you ... (Read More)calling me. When I do hear you, I come running full speed. I often like to throw myself at your feet and roll over so you can rub my belly. I LOVE to have my belly rubbed! If I am not outside watching rabbits and squirrels, I am laying on my dog bed looking out the front door. My dog bed is my favorite place to sleep. I do not jump on the couch or bed unless prompted by my foster parents. I would make a great addition to your family! Bruno is located near Grand Island, NE. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 15-05-04-00623Edee (female)

German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Cancer

[Read About Natural Cancer Care] Edee....A sweet senior girl found as a stray. She had 2 large tumors- one on her back and one in her mammary chain. We could not leave her at the shelter. She has received all vet care and had the tumors removed. The one on her back had good margins with removal, but the mammary chains did not. There is more than likely still active cancer cells. Our goal is to have her be happy and content. A home that would welcome hospice care would be considered, but we know well that can be hard. We do not what her future will hold medically. Her coat is sun bleached, yet she has been nothing but perfect in the home. She ... (Read More)loves her bed and an occasional rawhide to enjoy. Edee also enjoys taking strolls in the yard, sniffing the flowers. and the company of other older dogs. She has been nothing but a lady with those around her. She will occasionally pep up and bounce around with happy spurts. Edee deserves a lot of love. If you would like to sponsor her, please use our donate button. If there is a home out there that can give her nothing but the best, please contact us. She is located in Omaha NE. www.greatpointers.org *Please be sure to read the adoption info/FAQ tab on our main website before applying for a dog. (Less)

German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Puppy

For German Shorthaired Pointers: GPPR covers the states of Nebraska, Iowa, and Minnesota Brook is doing great in her foster home! She does fine in her crate and loves to gather her toys and place them all in there with her. She does well with other dogs and likes to play. She is fine with children. Due to her past kennel situation, she is learning what people are and what is means to be petted. She is coming around. Since she is young, it will not take her long to learn playing, being pet, and cuddled is 'nice'. She is a very sweet girl and has a lot of potential. She still has a lot of puppy in her. German Shorthaired Pointer    Age: Senior

For English Pointers: GPPR will adopt within the Midwestern States where we have volunteers located. Please be sure to ask if your state is included. HI, Pistol Pete here! Some call me Pistol, some call me Pete. I say just don't call me late for dinner! I have fantastic news! The vet says I can start looking for my forever home now. I've loved living here with my foster peeps, but I'm longing for a home of my own. I have some special needs so I need to find the right fit. First, I have a heart condition that will require me to take meds for the rest of my life. Since being on them, I don't cough as much and I have more energy to run my laps ... (Read More)around the yard. I'll also need a giant doggie bed to snooze in. See, my foster mom has these GIANT dog beds and I love them more than the couch, so if you could get one of those for me to sleep in that would be awesome! Because of my heart condition, I do like to nap a lot. I'm a senior you see so I also don't have as much energy as these young whippersnappers. I do love to run around in the yard and lay outside in the sun and when I'm done with that, I like to come in and snooze. I do sometimes pace or run in circles in the yard, so if you already have a built in track back there I'll help maintain it! I'm house and kennel trained but can also be trusted to be left out in the house. I do have accidents in my kennel . My vet thinks this is just 'me' so my mom just changes my bedding every few days and I do just fine (I'm also on a medicine that makes me need go potty more frequently). I am probably one of the sweetest and nicest dogs you'll ever meet. I get along great with my foster sisters. Sometimes I even like to play with my toys. It's taken me a while to put on weight but I'm finally at 46 lbs! I'd really love to snuggle up to you and be your forever friend. Meet me maybe? I promise, I'll be a perfect gentleman!     For English Pointers: GPPR will adopt within the Midwestern States where we have volunteers located. Please be sure to ask if your state is included. Well, it's Me again Buddy. Like you I'm anxious for Spring to arrive. Hard to believe I've been a GPPR dog for almost a year. I've come a long way. I have so much love wrapped up in this gorgeous body. If there was a GQ for pointers I'd be on the cover. And I'm humble too. Seriously though, if you want a friend to hike with, hang out with, and share your love, I'm your guy. Senior dogs rock, if I do say so myself. I don't do furniture, I do like toys and other dogs. I had some health ... (Read More)issues but my current bill of health is clean. I don't much care for car rides, but love long walks. I clean my bowl every time. Doggy door savvy, but does not like being crated all day. Trust worthy in the house so who needs a crate anyway? Rescue Me ID: 14-12-20-00268Nayeli (female)

Pointer    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy

Sweet baby girl Nayeli is a TRUE RESCUE! Her name is very fitting for her past life. Ancient Mayans (and Zapotec Indians) would use the word Nayeli to tell someone 'I love you.' :) UPDATE: Nayeli has completed her heartworm treatments like a champ! She has become fully housetrained, crate trained, and potty trained. She is allowed to free roam the house all day and she doesn't touch a thing (unless there is food close to the edge of the counter). :) She will bark initially when you leave but quiets quickly. Nayeli MUST HAVE ANOTHER DOG in the home. She becomes very anxious if no other dogs are around. Nayeli MUST HAVE a 6 foot ... (Read More)privacy fencing!! She likes to climb chain link fences or shorter fences to explore her neighborhood. :) She is phenomenal with kids. Nayeli doesn't startle easily. She currently lives in a home with 3 other dogs and 2 children under the age of 4. She loves to check in on the kids at night and cuddles with everyone when they arrive home. :) Nayeli is a GEM! Let us know if she sounds like a great fit for your family!!!! :) NAYELI'S INITAL ARRIVAL Nayeli was found in the backyard of a home tied to a dog house with no bottom in it and mud all around her. She was confined to her area by a 16 pound logging chain!!!!!! Her body had started to deteriorate due to lack of food and care. She was truly lucky that an animal control officer just happened to see her peeking her head out from her 'dog house.' Once removed from the yard, it was found that Nayeli was being neglected. Her entire body was covered in layers of yuck! She smelled, had had no food in some time, no water available to her, and was living in a dog house with no floor. Yet, she was the sweetest girl when the loving hand of the animal control officer came to release her (and another dog) from the property. (the previous owner has since been found guilty of neglect and sentenced). Nayeli spent a few weeks gaining back weight and being evaluated by vetrinarians. It was discovered that Nayeli's journey was only just beginning. Nayeli was diagnosed with heartworms. :( She has since moved to foster care in Des Moines, Iowa. She lives with 2 children under the age of 4 and another resident female doggy. Nayeli knows sit, shake and down. She is crate trained but does bark when you initially put her in. She wants to be with her people!! :) Because Nayeli has always been with other dogs, and due to her past experiences, she would fare better in a home with another dog...BUT NO CATS! She likes to see what is on the counter from time to time but is getting better with controlling her urges. :) At night she sleeps in a big cushy doggy bed with her foster sister and will let you sleep in if you ask her to lie down for a quick 5 minute snooze on the alarm. :) Nayeli was given the okay to start the process to treat her heartworms. It is an uphill and EXPENSIVE battle. Her treatments will cost just over $1000!!! Nayeli is currently available for sponsorship. The money would go directly to her heartworm treatments. Thank you for taking a peek at our wonderful girl Nayeli. If you think she may be a fit for your home, once she is healthy enough for adoption, please inquire on her. She truly is a RESCUE doggy. :) For English Pointers: GPPR will adopt within the Midwestern States where we have volunteers located. Please be sure to ask if your state is included. (Less)

***I qualify for the Senior Dog Program*** It's me Jewell. I just wanted to check in so you all know I'm still waiting. I have now been in foster care for a year, just waiting for that perfect home. I have learned a lot in my time here. My foster mom has taught me her rules and I've gotten good at following them. I know my basic commands, I'm housebroken and crate trained. I do really well with the little people in my foster home too. They are fun to run around with. I am limited to what kind of a home I can go to because I don't like most other dogs. That may be a problem for some but hey that's just more time for me and my new ... (Read More)family. German Shorthaired Pointer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Well, Hellooooo.....I'm Millie. I have one pretty blue eye and one pretty brown eye to go along with my pretty face and extra-pretty long tail. I am one of the sweetest GSP-mixes you'll ever meet, I promise. I came to GPPR a few months ago after I was found in a ditch by the side of the road. I don't like to talk about what happened, but I couldn't walk and I had to have surgery on my hip. I'm recovering nicely and I have some terrific kangaroo dance moves to show you! I can jump a 4 ft fence with the greatest of easeČ'Ř| I'm the Great Millieroo! I'm about 2 years old. I can see and hear just fine (sometimes people wonder about that because ... (Read More)of my eyes). Here's the thingČ'Ř| I really need a job. My GSP side of the family has hard workers, no doubt. But it is my Herding Breed side of the family that really influences my behavior. And we need to work, work, work. Or else we get into trouble, trouble, trouble. I have a lot of energy and am super-intelligent. I would do best in a home with someone who is herding-dog-savvy and maybe even has other herding dogs who will help keep me in line. I'm smart, bossy, nippy, and a bit weird about being away from my peopleČ'Ř| you know, all the things that make me a good herding dog. I'm also an amateur car-herder, so I'll need extra supervision, training, fencing, and/or a good tie out system to make sure I don't get hurt (again). I have been working very hard to overcome my separation and kennel anxieties. I have a hard time relaxing until my pack leader lets me know exactly what I should be doing and makes me work for my privileges. I'm just sort of old fashioned, that way. I have stopped eating kennels in my spare time but still have some work ahead of me in the anxiety department. Are you a confident pack leader in search of a sweet little Millieroo? I'm an intelligent, loyal, snuggly, playful, hard-working, sometimes-a-little-impish girl with so much love to give. Call me! Millie is being fostered near Minneapolis, MN. (Less)
